VPI Immingham is both a heat and power plant, on the south bank of the river Humber. It is one of the largest plants in Europe of its kind and capable of generating 1240MW – about 2.1% of UK electricity and up to 930 tonnes of steam per hour. VPI Immingham is one of the cleanest and most efficient power plants in Europe. The plant is fuelled by natural gas and surplus refinery gas, with liquid fuel as a backup.

Xact Power’s factory trained, highly skilled field-service engineers were asked to install a parallel rectifier system to supply auxiliary steam turbine controls. We were also instructed to reconfigure the batteries to facilitate a new dual rectifier system along with reconfiguring existing infrastructure.
Work was carried out when the power plant was in shut down which only gave a few short days for the work to be completed at a high standard so that the plant could be up and running with all the maintenance and upgrades accomplished.
This project was expertly managed on and off-site for the coordination of deliveries and installations. This was managed and controlled by one of our specialist UPS technicians to ensure operational assurance to the head engineer at the plant.
